Today was the deadline and presentation of our multimedia project, me and sarah made the final changes to it yesterday. We created a homepage with all the words from the 4 catorgories, each with a seperate button in flash, once the button is hit it takes you to another page with a picture of what me and sarah think the word represents to us, for example the word happy we showed with a cake....
We decided to do every word on the brief to make our design stronger, and we felt we had the time to do them all.
Our project was to show that everyone can think that words mean and represent different things, for example we thought that as happy was a cake somebody else might think of scoring a goal in a football match.

In the morning we were given a semiotics lecture, we were also told what we needed to do for the essay which was very helpful. i have all my notes from the lectures and i will use them to help me write it.
This afternoon we watched blade runner. Me and sarah have decided on using a flash based template for our multimedia project, we are going to create a series of buttons which link off to either videos or pictures to represent our chosen words.

Today we watched Tron :D
Kevin Flynn is a former employee of the software corporation ENCOM, now running a arcade. Flynn has been trying to hack into ENCOM's mainframe computer to find evidence that ENCOM's senior executive Ed Dillinger stole four video games he created. But Dillinger's supercomputer "Master Control Program" foils Flynn's efforts and dictates and controls most of the computer systems. One night, Flynn's former girlfriend Lora and her boyfriend, ace computer programmer Alan Bradley helps Flynn break into ENCOM to shut down the MCP with Alan's security program "TRON". But MCP uses Lora's matter transmission program and converts Flynn into data and sends him into the computer. Flynn finds himself in a electronic world ruled by the MCP and his evil chief henchman Sark, where computer programs are the alter-egos of their creators and are forced to compete in gladiatorial games. With help from Tron, a heroic and fearless security program and his lover, Yori, Flynn sets out destroy the MCP and help Tron liberate the system from the MCP's control, by destroying the MCP is Flynn's only way of returning to the real world.

This afternoon we watched koyaanisqatsi, Koyaanisqatsi is a documentary, it is also a visual concert of images set to music by 'Phillip Glass' . "Koyaanisqatsi" is a Hopi indian term for "life out of balance". The film uses extensive time lapse photography which speeds images up and slow motion photography to make comparisons between different types of physical motion.
The film progresses from purely natural environments to nature as affected by man, and finally to man's own manmade environment, devoid of nature yet still following the patterns of natural flow as depicted in the beginning of the film, yet in chaos and disarray. Through this the film conveys its key message, which is Koyaanisqatsi: life out of balance; crazy life; life in turmoil; life disintegrating; a state of life that calls for another way of living.
For my multimedia projext i have been looking at creating 4 or 5 flash movies to represent the different words we have been given. I have been looking at a german graphic design book downstairs and there are many ideas and concepts, i have found within this book which has helped me alot. i will start experimenting in flash before next weeks lesson.

In this afternoons lesson we watched a film called "pi", its about a mathmatician named Max who, Since staring at the sun at age six, he's had migranes. He's obsessed with finding numeric patterns. Max is a genius mathematician who's built a supercomputer at home that provides something that can be understood as a key for understanding all existence.
After the film i read up about it, and found out about significant things to do with mathmatical principles within it :)

I had a lecture with Nigel about Semiotics, he also explained about Digerati.

- Mood: Happy, Sad, Ecstatic, Melancholy, Reflective, Indifferent
- Object: Large, Small, Significant, Counatble, Non-countable
- Habitat: Wild, Tame, Dark, Light, Rough, Smooth
- Lifestyle: Aspirination-al, Reclusive, Representational, None-representational, Organic, Chemical.
I think i will use video, for each word in each section, for example one for happy, large, wild, organic and then put all the videos together.
